Correspondence From The Bunker 33
Welcome everyone, I’m John Lynch, a horror author from Rhode Island, and for the first time since October, I’m not sick. You read that right. I had a cold, or multiple colds that waxed and waned in severity from late October until late January. I never tested positive for anything they test for, from covid to RSV or anything in between. So, now that I’m feeling better again, I’m writing more, and back in the gym. Two things I greatly enjoy.
The Warrior Retreat has seen a bit of a resurgence this month, thanks in part to a few different group reads that went on, so a huge thank you to the readers who continue to support me. I can only write because of you all.
So what’s next? Well, for those of you who follow me, you know that Jay Bower, John Durgin, and myself are releasing our novellas from The Conservator’s Collection as stand alone book that will be exclusive to our websites and conventions. This was always the intent, but the larger book will also remain for sale. We’re simply giving readers more options, as we know collections and anthologies aren’t everyones cup of tea. There may be readers who are fine with buy a novella from one of us, but maybe don’t want to pay a little more for all 3 of them because they aren’t familiar with all 3 of us. I’ve just placed a large convention stock order. What that means is for the next few day’s (until it ships) the book has to be up for sale on amazon. The moment it ships, I will be unpublishing it. So, for now, if you don’t want a signed copy, but you would like it standalone, you can purchase it from amazon. I don’t have an exact time frame, so if you want it, and you don’t care about a signed copy, you can grab it
Now, currently this is something I want to do for MY readers, the biggest fans, which is why I would ask that you not share the fact that it can be purchased on amazon right now. The book will eventually be up for sale on Amazon, though I’m not sure when. I anticipate a wider paperback and ebook release around September, or October. However, an ebook release means that while The Conservator Collection can still be sold, it would have to be pulled from kindle unlimited, which is part of why we are waiting. The book does well on KU right now, and we don’t want to take the wind out of its sails by removing it from the program.
But what about new books? Well, I’m in the middle of a rewrite of a book I have been writing since early last year. I shelved it to write both Expiration of Sentence, and Christmas Eve Carnage. While I’m writing this, I’m beginning to outline Christmas Eve Carnage: Sprinkles Lives. Somehow, against all odds, Carnage has become my favorite piece of fiction I’ve ever written, and it is important to me that in order for there to be more Carnage, anything else in that world must live up to the name, which is why I’m starting the outline long before I write it, something I usually don’t do.
I have a few events coming up this year. First, I will be selling and signing books at the Rhode Island Horror Authorcon, which will be held at Rhode Island College Student Union on Saturday, March 23.
A few short weeks later, I’ll be traveling to Richmond, VA for Scares that Care AuthorCon, which is a wonderful charity event, and the best event I’ve ever been to. You can, and should, attend the event. Tickets can be purchased here
In July, I’ll be doing the Authors Against Abuse event in Putnam, CT, with proceeds going to charity.
My last event scheduled for the year will be at The Terror Con, in Marlborough, MA September 27-29.
I hope to see you all there!
Recent Reads: This Wretched Valley, by Jenny Kiefer. I’m really enjoying this one right now and highly recommend it. I’m also reading a Sci-fi series called HellDivers at the moment, it’s a fun one.
Playing: Tekken 8 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, with some Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom sprinkled in. All fun games, highly recommend, although Tekken 8 reminded me that I suck at fighting games.
That does it for this newsletter, thank you all for sticking around and I’ll see you in a few weeks.
