Good Morning everyone, I hope you are well. If you’re new here, I’m John Lynch, a horror writer from Rhode Island.
Life has been a bit crazy lately, working a bunch, birthdays, some medical issues. I’m currently testing my blood sugar, blood pressure, and getting ready to have a heart monitor issued to figure out what has been going on, so I’ve been better, but I still am moderately healthy. I’ll be fine.
Recently, my short story collection, Woe To Those Who Dwell On Earth, was nominated for a splatterpunk award. I’m still in awe that I managed to accumulate enough votes to even be nominated. The competition is fierce, I’ll know more in August.
In the mean time, I wanted to make the book as readily available as possible to as many readers as possible, so I’ve decided to run a .99 Kindle sale on the book. From Today, Sunday March 17, until next Sunday, the book will be available for .99, I do hope you will check it out!
I’m excited to announce this weekend, Saturday, March 23, I’ll be attending the Horror Depot RI Horror Authorcon with a list of amazing authors. The event will be held at the Rhode Island College Student Union Hall, from 11 AM to 6 PM. There will be over 30 authors attending, as well as readings. Also, just announced, I’ll taking part in a panel on Writing and Selling Extreme Horror, moderated by Tik Tok’s “Book Bitch”
Make sure you check this one out if you’re in the southern new england area! Tickets are 5 bucks at the door, 3 bucks with a student ID.
Writing has been slow this week, I’ve gotten some done, but not as much as I’d like. I’ve since confirmed with another author a project we will be co-writing together, we’re not ready to say anything yet other than it is sure to be a bloody good time.
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m all in on self publishing, however, I’ve recently come to a verbal agreement with a publisher to bring you all a special type of book that I otherwise would not have written. This is something unusual, and other than possible an anthology here or there, I wouldn’t expect to see me teaming up with publishers too often, this was just something really cool, and as I mentioned there is zero chance this is a book I would have written without this publisher. More on that once I have signed a contract, but I promise it is going to be great!
I’m starting to outline a book that I’m really excited about getting out this year. It is a sequel to my personal favorite book I’ve written, and though I’ve announced it already, briefly on social media, I won’t be doing a full cover/title/pre-order reveal until the end of November. That should give you all the Jolly hint you need. Stay posted here for the full reveal!
Books I’m reading/ have read. I’ve finished reading a few books since the last newsletter. Here are the ones I would recommend. Rabbit Hunt by Wrath James white, one of my new favorite extreme horror books. The Terror of Willow Falls, by Jay Bower. Jay’s most terrifying book yet, full of excellent story telling. The Old Lady, By Kristopher Triana. Fans of Triana’s unhinged female characters are really gonna love this one. Lastly, I finished up the new Daniel Volpe novel, Through The Eyes of Desperation: The Black Version. If you love Volpes signature gore, gross, sex style this one is another hit.
Currently I’m reading Psychic Teenage Bloodbath 2 by Carl John Lee, and Darkness on the Edge of Town, by Brian Keene.
Games I’m Playing: I’ve finally finished Tears of The Kingdom, which is one of my favorite Zelda Games. It truly is a masterpiece, and I say that as someone who hated Breath of the Wild. I’m now playing Hell Divers 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Fire Emblem Engage. All 3 are great games.
That about wraps up everything for the time being, I hope you all have a great weekend, and thank you for your time.
John Lynch
